Disillusionment

Broken, wearied, disillusioned, she was grappling for hope,

Just as a ray of light was forming, despair caused her to mope.

Heaving over her past, neither did the future look bright,

Bleak was her life, as dreary as was that night.

Memories resurfacing, new hopes were being rekindled,

Until her harsh reality caused all her desires to dwindle.

A trickle of what was left was she trying to amass,

But the enormity of her grief, none could surpass.

Broken, wearied, disillusioned, was she doomed to remain,

Until that ray of light fizzled out leaving her in perpetual pain.
